Law college principals have noted that this academic year has been exceptionally hectic for the faculty.

Speaking to Sakal Times, Kiran Shinde, Principal of Hutatma Rajguru Law College, said that teachers will not skip their teaching schedule for other courses while checking the first semester exam papers.

“We are aware that for checking exam papers, the faculty members will have to take out time from teaching. So we planned extra classes for students to keep the syllabus on track. Also, the faculty members have been working during vacations as well to complete the first semester syllabus. However, we have decided that for checking papers of the first semester, the faculty would first have to teach in the college till 1 pm and then go ahead for the checking,” said Shinde.

Shinde further said that despite the late start of the first semester, faculty members for law have invested their time to finish the syllabus. “The faculty members will continue to do so for the next semester as well. We are hopeful that the authorities carry out the admissions well in time at least for the upcoming academic year to make things easier for everyone,” added Shinde.

Echoing similar views, a second year law student, on the condition of anonymity, noted that the faculty members this year are in a rush to finish the syllabus. “Many of them have hurried through topics. Also, with the first semester exam coming up, many will be engaged in exam work which means they will not take our classes. We hope we finish our syllabus as teachers are overburdened,” said the student. He added that the university should actively engage working lawyers to help in checking answer papers and reduce the burden on faculty members.
